Financial Controller (UK Hybrid)

Lead UK and French financial operations for Semble’s clinical healthcare software business. Own close, compliance, controls, reporting, and AI-enabled improvements across Finance.

Description

  • Build and maintain a dependable, audit-ready Finance operation
  • Own the monthly close and its supporting processes
  • Produce accurate, timely management accounts and investor reports
  • Maintain internal controls appropriate for a Series C+ business
  • Oversee daily treasury activity and related controls
  • Lead statutory, tax, audit, VAT, and company secretarial compliance across the UK and France
  • Coordinate with external auditors and advisers for UK and French entities
  • Find ways to automate and streamline Finance through scalable AI-enabled tools and workflows
  • Oversee revenue, billing, deferred revenue, SaaS activity, receivables, and payables
  • Support administration of the company ESOP and other company secretarial matters
  • Manage, coach, and develop one direct report
  • Partner with the CFO and FP&A team on planning and business decisions

Requirements

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification
  • Experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Operations leader, or in a comparable position
  • Experience preparing reports under UK GAAP FRS 102 or IFRS
  • Background in a B2B SaaS, software, technology, or subscription business
  • Experience in a high-growth, venture capital- or private equity-backed company is preferred
  • Understanding of AI and its use in improving Finance operations and efficiency
  • Experience managing multiple legal entities and consolidations
  • French-language skills are a strong advantage
  • Knowledge of French administrative compliance and procedures is advantageous
  • Experience managing professional relationships with auditors and tax advisers
  • Experience addressing new and complex matters
  • Accurate, self-directed working style
  • Collaborative, pragmatic problem-solving approach
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to build trust with senior stakeholders
  • Experience with Stripe and HubSpot is desirable
