Field Service Engineer, Maritime Port Equipment – Biggleswade

Maintain and repair Liebherr STS, RTG, and RMG cranes at UK ports, terminals, customer sites, and depots. Troubleshoot electrical, PLC, hydraulic, diesel, and mechanical systems for a global equipment manufacturer.

Description

  • Maintain, inspect, diagnose faults in, and repair Liebherr STS, RTG, and RMG cranes at customer sites, ports, terminals, and Liebherr depots
  • Complete scheduled maintenance, inspections, servicing, and corrective repairs
  • Identify and resolve electrical, PLC, hydraulic, and mechanical issues
  • Service and repair diesel engines
  • Work safely at height and in demanding port environments
  • Support crane assembly, commissioning, repairs, dismantling, and refurbishment
  • Organise work to meet customer needs, deadlines, and company standards
  • Partner with Technical Support teams to resolve complex faults
  • Process warranty claims and returned parts accurately
  • Prepare service reports, administrative records, and technical documentation
  • Follow health, safety, environmental, quality, and manufacturer requirements
  • Develop customer relationships and provide support to depot teams
  • Join the out-of-hours support rota when required
  • Recommend improvements to efficiency, processes, and service delivery

Requirements

  • A recognised electrical qualification, such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or an equivalent credential
  • Professional experience in electrical maintenance, field service, or engineering
  • Strong ability to locate and diagnose electrical faults
  • Practical knowledge of PLCs and PLC troubleshooting
  • A full, clean UK driving licence
  • Experience with heavy industrial equipment, cranes, or plant machinery is desirable
