Field Engineer - DCS Automation | Valmet

Design, test, document, and support Valmet DCS automation software for pulp, paper, and energy industry customers. Integrate control systems and provide project and on-site customer support.

Description

  • Assess customer needs and resolve design challenges.
  • Integrate Valmet products into customer systems and subsystems.
  • Apply existing products to support market expansion.
  • Analyze, implement, test, and document applications against design documents and requirements specifications.
  • Act as lead engineer or project team member on DCS projects.
  • Design, implement, test, and document application software with Valmet product tools.
  • Develop or support coding and testing for project-specific software.
  • Follow project Configuration Management and Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Provide on-site support to customers when required.
  • Work directly with customers on project software changes.
  • Prepare or assist with technical proposals.
  • Handle other related responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field, 4–7 years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of algorithm design and programming logic.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation, control, and automation practices is preferred.
  • Electro-mechanical aptitude, self-direction, and a strong work ethic.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • This position is not open to relocation.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required for employment.
