EY Principal Backend Engineer Manager - Dallas, TX
Lead backend engineering for EY financial-services clients, shaping Java enterprise systems and large-scale modernization programs. Own architecture, governance, delivery standards, and technical leadership across complex initiatives.
Description
- Build server-side services, APIs, and data integrations for financial-services clients
- Set architectural direction, governance practices, and technical leadership for complex enterprise programs
- Own application architecture from end to end, including long-term technology roadmaps
- Create secure engineering patterns, reusable frameworks, and consistent delivery controls
- Guide cross-functional technical decisions, modernization programs, dependencies, and risk management
- Advise senior client and internal stakeholders on technical choices and trade-offs
- Coach technical leaders and engineers through mentoring, feedback, and career development
- Create reusable engineering standards and strengthen organizational technical capabilities
- Promote high standards for code quality, security, testing, and automation
- Convert business and technical requirements into secure, integrated services
- Execute project-based technology work and managed services spanning solution design, configuration, testing, analysis, delivery, and support
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in enterprise application development, architecture, and technical leadership
- Advanced experience building server-side applications and RESTful APIs with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
- Expertise in microservices, API design, and Kafka-based event-driven integration
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, JPA or Hibernate, and performance optimization
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
- Experience working with JSON, XML, REST, SOAP, and web services
- Experience using Jenkins, Git, CI/CD practices, and testing tools including JUnit and Mockito
- Experience with cloud development, containerized applications, and production incident triage
- Demonstrated ownership of application architecture, engineering governance, and technical-leader mentoring
- Ability to work in Agile environments with senior business and technical stakeholders
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time
