Electronics Engineer, London Hybrid at ZELP

Develop wearable electronics that measure and reduce livestock methane emissions at ZELP. The role covers low-power hardware, wireless connectivity, embedded firmware, validation, and production testing.

Description

  • Analyze features, define architectures, select components, and design circuits that meet cost and manufacturability targets.
  • Create schematics and multilayer PCB layouts in Altium, including custom components and footprints.
  • Conduct hardware fault analysis and develop safety-focused designs.
  • Validate electronic designs through structured testing.
  • Design for EMC compliance, meet applicable standards, and support certification testing.
  • Contribute to firmware work spanning BSPs and drivers, product features, technical calculations, radio stacks, and power optimization.
  • Organize and prioritize work, track progress proactively, and deliver according to agreed schedules.
  • Develop and maintain hardware programming, verification, and calibration processes for mass production.
  • Work with the Zelp Sense team on wearable-device electronics and related engineering projects.
  • Build and test systems incorporating MCUs, MPUs, sensors, long-range low-power radio, and cloud connectivity.

Requirements

  • At least four years of experience developing electronics for modern devices or commercial products.
  • At least three years of experience with Altium Designer, schematic capture, component-library management, and multilayer PCB layout.
  • Experience configuring peripherals, coding, and debugging ARM Cortex-M processors.
  • Experience with low-power radios and wireless protocols such as BLE, LoRa, NFC, and Zigbee.
  • Experience with network communications and IoT technologies, including UDP/TCP/IP, MQTT, LWM2M, HTTP, and REST.
  • Experience with electronic communication interfaces including RS-232, I2C, SPI, and USB.
  • Experience supporting product compliance with RED, CE, and FCC requirements, including testing, documentation, and certification.
  • Experience creating product test harnesses and related documentation.
  • Experience designing low-power electronics.
  • Experience developing PC applications that interact with hardware is advantageous.
  • C# or Python programming experience is advantageous.
  • NI LabVIEW experience for rapid prototyping, laboratory testing, and test-harness development is advantageous.
  • Experience with RISC-V processors is advantageous.
  • Experience developing hardware test harnesses and firmware for automated mass-production testing is advantageous.
  • Embedded Linux experience, including ARM Cortex-A kernel cross-compilation, device trees, U-Boot, and driver development, is advantageous.
