Electronics Designer - Hybrid
Design and test electronic circuits for Gentec’s industrial and technology solutions. Support products from initial design through production.
Description
- Design digital, analog, and power circuits, including component research, technical solution development, calculations, simulations, and printed circuit board implementation
- Assess technical feasibility, project risks, and labor requirements
- Help write the technical sections of project proposals
- Help prepare technical design specifications
- Help prepare product installation, operating, and maintenance manuals
- Create component symbols, electronic schematics, and bills of materials
- Commission prototype boards
- Develop plans and procedures for production and certification testing
- Conduct internal functional verification tests on electronic boards
- Perform internal safety, disturbance, EMC, climatic, and mechanical tests under adverse conditions
- Conduct customer certification testing according to applicable international standards
- Guide and support printed circuit board and mechanical-part design in collaboration with CAD technicians
- Support products for customers, the Production department, and fellow designers
- Contribute to project management, including cost and schedule tracking and follow-up meetings
- Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews
- Serve as Product Manager when needed to maintain solution performance and sustainability throughout the product life cycle
- Perform other related duties
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field
- At least 5 years of experience designing electronic boards
- Experience with CAD software, such as Altium
- Knowledge of VHDL programming
- Knowledge of IEC, UL, or CSA safety standards is an asset
- Knowledge of power electronics is an asset
- Knowledge of analog design is an asset
- Knowledge of signal processing is an asset
- Experience with product life cycle management and resolving manufacturing issues
- Experience providing technical production support and managing non-conformities
- Laboratory experience
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Rigor and autonomy
- Intermediate English proficiency
