Diagnostic Radiology Technologist – Regional Float, Pennsylvania

Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures for Geisinger patients across Pennsylvania communities. Support safe imaging, high-quality image acquisition, accurate documentation, and licensed practitioners.

Description

  • Administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes
  • Perform comprehensive radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures
  • Collect and analyze diagnostic data at the request of a licensed practitioner for their interpretation
  • Perform independently or support licensed practitioners with radiographic, fluoroscopic, specialized radiologic, and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures
  • Prepare, administer, and record medications and radiation exposure in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies
  • Confirm orders, identify and prepare patients, validate clinical histories, and maintain confidential documentation
  • Follow imaging protocols and optimize technical factors while applying ALARA principles to protect patient safety
  • Assess images for positioning and technical quality, and verify archival storage, data transfer, and post-processing when applicable
  • Educate and supervise students and other healthcare providers
  • Conduct procedures outside the Radiology Department, including in the operating room, Endoscopy, and ICU
  • Meet role-specific responsibilities and follow organizational policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Completion of a specialty training program in radiologic technology is required
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Radiography (R) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within six months of hire
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete the requirements to advance to level 2 within 24 months
  • At least one year of related work experience is preferred
  • Ability to perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures
  • Knowledge of ionizing radiation administration, radiation safety, ALARA principles, medications, vascular access, imaging protocols, image evaluation, archival storage, and data transfer
  • Ability to follow federal and state laws, regulations, and institutional policies
  • Ability to work day shifts for 40 scheduled hours per week
  • Work authorization in the United States is implied by the United States work shift and location context
