Credit Risk Modelling Data Scientist

Develop and maintain credit risk models at Desjardins, supporting risk quantification and compliance with Basel and IFRS standards. Lead modelling initiatives, advise stakeholders, and help teams apply data-driven risk practices.

Description

  • Create, apply, refine, and document mathematical models used in risk management
  • Balance business priorities with risk controls, regulatory obligations, and established best practices
  • Lead or support projects and initiatives within the area of expertise
  • Provide specialist guidance to organizational teams, tailoring information to different audiences and informing decisions
  • Track industry developments, anticipate emerging trends, and maintain relevant best practices
  • Guide practitioners working on credit model development and application for business activities
  • Advise teams on data use as a subject matter expert, coach colleagues, and serve as a trusted resource
  • Collaborate with related functions to identify and communicate issues and shape decisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or a related discipline
  • At least six years of relevant professional experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered
  • Background in credit risk management and risk quantification
  • French-language proficiency is required
  • Intermediate to advanced English proficiency
  • Working proficiency with SAS, SQL, and Python
  • Knowledge of Basel standards
  • Knowledge of IFRS standards
