Azure Cloud Architect
Design secure, automated Azure infrastructure for UBDS Group clients across cloud, cybersecurity, data and AI. Lead hybrid migrations and storage modernisation while contributing hands-on to delivery.
Description
- Design secure, scalable Azure cloud architectures and deliver them to production
- Set infrastructure architecture across compute, networking, storage, identity and security
- Configure and optimise Azure Files and related cloud storage
- Help move and modernise on-premises file services and storage in Azure
- Build hybrid cloud environments that connect on-premises infrastructure with Azure
- Guide architecture and provide hands-on engineering support to Cloud and DevOps teams
- Develop Infrastructure as Code and automated deployment solutions
- Use PowerShell, Python or similar tools for scripting and automation
- Create CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows with Azure DevOps or equivalent tools
- Work with Azure identity, access management and security services
- Contribute to cloud migrations, infrastructure transformation and application modernisation
- Address performance, resilience, security, governance and cost optimisation in solution design
- Resolve complex cloud infrastructure, storage and integration issues
- Create architecture documentation, technical designs and implementation guidance
- Translate customer and stakeholder needs into effective cloud solutions
- Partner with Cloud, Cyber Security and Engineering specialists on customer engagements
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering Microsoft Azure cloud architectures
- Background as an Azure Architect, Cloud Architect, Technical Architect or senior Cloud Engineer
- Strong knowledge of Azure compute, networking, storage and identity services
- Practical experience with Azure Files, Azure Storage and hybrid file-sharing solutions
- Experience planning Azure storage migrations and connecting Azure with on-premises environments
- Working knowledge of Azure networking, including VNets, private endpoints, VPNs and hybrid connectivity
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, identity and access management, and cloud security
- Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates
- Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD and deployment automation
- Scripting or software development experience with PowerShell, Python, C# or similar
- Experience designing secure, highly available and resilient cloud solutions
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience in multidisciplinary technical and delivery teams
- Strong stakeholder communication and engagement skills
- Azure File Sync, Azure NetApp Files or enterprise storage experience is an advantage
- Azure Virtual Desktop and enterprise file services experience is an advantage
- Windows Server, Active Directory or hybrid identity experience is an advantage
- Azure Backup, disaster recovery or business continuity experience is an advantage
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), containers or cloud-native technology experience is an advantage
- Azure Functions, APIs or application integration experience is an advantage
- GitHub Actions or broader DevOps tooling experience is an advantage
- Azure Monitor, Log Analytics or cloud observability experience is an advantage
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud or Azure security governance experience is an advantage
- AWS or multi-cloud experience is an advantage
- Cloud transformation experience in Government, Defence or another regulated setting is an advantage
- Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-104 or AZ-305, or equivalent, are an advantage
