Java Backend Developer (Remote, United States)

Build and maintain secure Java backend applications and APIs for DecisionPoint Corporation’s federal transportation logistics program. Contribute to integrations, testing, DevSecOps, and Agile delivery in a remote role.

Tavsif

  • Build, test, enhance, and maintain Java backend applications and services for the IBS program
  • Create backend solutions with Java, Spring Boot, and related frameworks and libraries
  • Design, implement, maintain, and use RESTful APIs and web services
  • Develop business logic, service-layer components, integrations, and data-access functionality
  • Connect backend services with relational databases, external systems, and other application components
  • Convert functional and technical requirements into reliable, scalable, maintainable software
  • Produce clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable Java code
  • Create and maintain unit and integration tests
  • Take part in peer code reviews
  • Diagnose and resolve backend defects, integration issues, and performance problems
  • Review application logs and system behavior to determine root causes and apply fixes
  • Support integrations between system components and external interfaces
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated build, testing, and deployment workflows
  • Maintain compliance with DoD security requirements, secure coding practices, and applicable STIG requirements
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and retrospectives
  • Create and update technical documentation
  • Work with developers, technical leads, QA, DevSecOps, database, infrastructure, and engineering teams
  • Support front-end integration and contribute to Angular components when needed

Talablar

  • Hold an active Secret Clearance
  • Possess an IAT Level II certification; CompTIA Security+ CE is preferred
  • Bring at least 3 years of professional software development experience
  • Demonstrate strong hands-on Java application development experience
  • Have experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, or comparable Java frameworks
  • Have designed, developed, and consumed RESTful APIs and web services
  • Have developed backend business logic, service-layer components, and application integrations
  • Have worked with relational databases and SQL
  • Understand object-oriented design, software design principles, and common development patterns
  • Have written unit and integration tests for Java applications
  • Have troubleshot and debugged enterprise applications, APIs, and integrations
  • Have used Git or a comparable source-control tool
  • Have worked in Agile software development environments
  • Be familiar with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical abilities
  • Work independently while collaborating effectively with a distributed development team
  • Preferred: experience supporting USTRANSCOM, DoD, or other federal mission systems
  • Preferred: experience with Spring Boot enterprise applications or microservices
  • Preferred: experience with microservice architectures
  • Preferred: experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, messaging, asynchronous processing, enterprise integration, security scanning tools, GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
