Senior Security Operations Analyst at Xero (Hybrid, New Zealand)
Lead complex incident investigations, coordinate response, and strengthen security operations at Xero. Build AI-assisted workflows and help protect millions of small businesses and advisors.
Descriere
- Lead complex investigations and serve as Incident Commander for medium- and high-impact incidents
- Act as an escalation point for Graduate, Associate, and Analyst team members while coaching them through challenging cases
- Conduct post-incident reviews to improve detections, runbooks, and training
- Lead initiatives with the Product Manager and Security Operations Managers, translating goals into delivered outcomes
- Develop and refine automations and AI-assisted workflows with suitable guardrails and human approval
- Partner with Defence engineers on detection and response logic, testing new capabilities during real incidents
- Translate threat intelligence into practical security actions for Xero
- Give customers and internal teams clear, timely responses to security concerns
- Coordinate work handovers across the global follow-the-sun Response team
- Work during business hours in the local time zone and participate in the after-hours on-call roster
- Help develop an agentic SOC where AI agents and automation manage more first-pass work while analysts provide judgement and oversight
Cerințe
- Demonstrated experience in security operations with a strong focus on incident response
- Proven ability to lead complex investigations and incidents through resolution, coordinating people and making decisions under pressure
- Strong technical judgement and knowledge of attack and defence techniques, especially in cloud and SaaS environments
- Confidence writing queries in a SIEM or log platform
- Clear, composed communication skills and a willingness to share knowledge
- Scripting experience with Python or a similar language preferred
- Experience creating automations in a SOAR platform, particularly Tines, preferred
- Hands-on experience using AI tools in security work, or a clear understanding of their appropriate and inappropriate applications, preferred
- Intermediate or advanced certification in incident response, threat hunting, or cloud security preferred
- Experience working in distributed teams across time zones preferred
- Based in New Zealand or Australia
