Senior Financial Controller, Regulatory Reporting
Lead IFRS and FRS 102 reporting, regulatory returns, audits and tax for Xapo Bank’s multi-entity group. This remote role oversees finance teams and improves close processes across Gibraltar and the UK.
Descriere
- Safeguard the accuracy of financial reporting across the Xapo group.
- Lead the Financial Controlling and Regulatory Reporting teams.
- Prepare consolidated and entity financial statements under IFRS and FRS 102, from initial drafts through approval.
- Manage monthly and annual close for entities in Gibraltar and the UK, including consolidation and intercompany eliminations.
- Oversee statutory accounts for all group entities.
- Maintain a reliable and accurate internal control system.
- Direct GFSC and FCA regulatory reporting, including prudential capital and liquidity returns and periodic management accounts.
- Work with Data, Operations, Compliance and other teams on client asset reporting.
- Track regulatory developments and update reporting requirements accordingly.
- Manage the group’s external audit from planning and fieldwork through queries and final sign-off.
- Serve as Xapo’s primary contact for external auditors.
- Advise on technical accounting, including IFRS treatment of crypto assets.
- Prepare technical accounting positions and contribute to decisions on finance systems and infrastructure.
- Help develop accounting policies, technical memos and decision records.
- Oversee tax compliance and external tax advisors, including advice on crypto-asset tax treatment.
- Improve finance processes and reporting in NetSuite.
- Work with the finance transformation team to apply AI and automation to close and reporting.
- Oversee and strengthen review processes for close and regulatory reporting.
- Lead and develop the Financial Controlling and Regulatory Reporting teams.
- Set team objectives, grow future leaders and build capabilities to meet changing business and regulatory needs.
Cerințe
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline.
- An accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent is preferred.
- At least five years of experience as a Controller leading an accounting function.
- Experience in banking, fintech or crypto businesses.
- Strong command of IFRS and FRS 102, including preparing financial statements under both standards.
- Experience accounting for crypto assets under IFRS, including fair value revaluation and on-chain reconciliations, with a practical understanding of blockchain.
- Regulatory reporting experience, including Basel capital and liquidity returns such as COREP; GFSC or FCA experience is preferred.
- Experience managing external audits.
- Proficiency with NetSuite is essential.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills; SQL or BI tools such as BigQuery or Looker are an advantage.
- Experience using AI tools in finance roles and working with AI-powered automation.
- Experience leading and developing a finance team.
- Strong writing and communication skills, including explaining complex financial information to non-finance colleagues and handling regulator and auditor correspondence in a fully remote team.
