Electrical Designer/Drafter – Industrial Controls, Onsite
Design PLC-based industrial refrigeration control systems at Johnson Controls’ Waynesboro manufacturing facility. Develop schematics, technical documentation, and panel layouts for production and field installation.

- Design electrical control systems for industrial equipment and automation applications
- Produce and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, terminal plans, and bills of material in Autodesk Electrical
- Prepare PLC and embedded computer hardware documentation for new products and customer-specific projects
- Specify components such as PLCs, HMIs, industrial computers, power supplies, circuit protection, communications hardware, sensors, and instrumentation
- Apply relevant electrical codes, standards, and company design practices
- Process engineering change requests and revise design documentation
- Work with engineers, production teams, and suppliers to resolve design and manufacturing issues
- Help optimize panel layouts for manufacturability and serviceability
- Create accurate documentation packages for manufacturing, testing, and field installation
- Take part in project reviews and formal design reviews
- Provide technical assistance during system integration, testing, startup, and troubleshooting
- Track project schedules and complete assigned work by established deadlines
- Contribute to improvements in design processes, standards, and documentation practices
- Support the controls panel shop by clarifying specifications and implementing engineering changes when needed
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and field teams to deliver cost-effective industrial control solutions
Prasības
- An associate degree in electrical or electronics engineering technology or a related field, or five years of professional experience in place of a degree
- At least two years of experience in electrical controls design, industrial automation, or related engineering design work
- Proficiency with Autodesk Electrical
- Working knowledge of industrial control systems and electrical design principles
- Knowledge of PLC hardware platforms and industrial control architectures
- Familiarity with embedded computer control systems and industrial networking
- Ability to create and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, control documentation, and industrial refrigeration P&IDs
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profinet, and serial communications
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL 508A control panel requirements
- Must live within commuting distance of the facility or be able to relocate
- Only US citizens and permanent residents will be considered
