Junior GIS Consultant and Project Coordinator

Support environmental, planning, and regulatory projects for Indigenous communities across Canada through GIS work and project coordination. Manage spatial data, ArcGIS tools, client deliverables, and technical reviews.

  • Contribute GIS expertise to environmental, planning, research, and technical projects.
  • Manage spatial and attribute data from collection and editing through maintenance.
  • Prepare GIS datasets, including formatting, organization, and quality checks.
  • Carry out routine GIS analysis and spatial data processing.
  • Build and maintain maps, layers, feature classes, and other GIS outputs.
  • Assist with field data collection using Esri applications and mobile tools.
  • Configure and maintain ArcGIS Online content and applications with guidance from senior GIS staff.
  • Create and support Survey123 forms and workflows.
  • Check data quality, finding and correcting inconsistencies and errors.
  • Prepare maps, figures, datasets, and other GIS materials for project teams and clients.
  • Record GIS methods, data sources, workflows, and project procedures.
  • Help improve GIS workflows, tools, and data management practices.
  • Coordinate impact assessment, Indigenous consultation, traditional knowledge, and technical peer review work related to environmental permitting and approvals reports.
  • Develop client relationships and deliver responsive service.
  • Work with Indigenous community clients, regulators, and project proponents.
  • Assist with research, writing, and business development.
  • Address client needs promptly and with empathy.
  • Present findings and prepare clear, concise reports.
  • Draft reports, strategic communications, and memos that advance client community objectives.

Reikalavimai

  • A GIS, geomatics, or related college diploma or certificate plus relevant practical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Practical experience using Esri ArcGIS Pro.
  • Experience creating and editing feature classes and geodatabases.
  • Experience producing and maintaining maps and map layouts.
  • Knowledge of data symbology, labeling, and basic cartographic design.
  • Knowledge of introductory geoprocessing and spatial analysis, including buffers, selections, and joins.
  • Experience with common GIS data formats and coordinate systems.
  • Experience editing, checking, and preparing spatial data for analysis and mapping.
  • Experience creating and configuring ArcGIS Online applications.
  • Experience using ArcGIS Survey123, Survey123 Connect, and Survey123 Web Designer.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Dashboards, and ArcGIS Experience Builder.
  • Experience building, configuring, editing, and maintaining GIS tools, applications, forms, and workflows in ArcGIS Online.
  • Working knowledge of GIS databases, spatial data management, and standard GIS workflows.
  • Experience supporting GIS projects or programs and/or field data collection.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including intermediate Excel ability with pivot tables, charts, sorting, filtering, and organizing and analyzing datasets.
  • Ability to learn new GIS tools, workflows, and technical applications.
  • Strong technical writing and analytical abilities.
  • Experience managing and analyzing data, preparing technical reports, and explaining complex information in plain language.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a project-based setting.
  • Careful attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, high-quality data.
  • Experience in cross-cultural settings, preferably with First Nations, Métis, and/or Inuit communities.
