  • Manage medical care and test referrals for the site.
  • Arrange referrals to specialty, hospital, and ancillary providers at clinicians’ request.
  • Coordinate appointments.
  • Make sure specialty and outside providers receive patients’ medical and demographic information.
  • Tell patients about appointments and any special testing requirements.
  • Monitor whether patients attend their referral appointments.
  • Work an eight-hour day shift, Monday through Friday, with no weekend or holiday shifts.
  • Complete 90 days of training before moving to a hybrid schedule.

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least one year of experience working in an outpatient physician clinic.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with physicians, patients, and staff.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience with referral and authorization processes is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
  • Knowledge of managed care preauthorization procedures is preferred.
  • General insurance knowledge is preferred.
