Engineering Manager, Frontend (Maternity Cover)
Lead frontend delivery while contributing hands-on React and TypeScript code, using AI coding agents in production. Own agent tooling, code quality, and squad operations for a subscriber management SaaS product.

- Contribute directly to production work in React and TypeScript, using coding agents to tackle tickets.
- Configure and maintain the frontend agent setup, including Claude Code or OpenCode, instructions, subagents, MCP servers, hooks, and permissions.
- Help the team use coding agents effectively through pairing, demos, and improvements to documentation, conventions, tests, and tools.
- Set review standards for agent-written code and own the correctness, design quality, and security of merged work, supported by CI checks.
- Manage frontend delivery for the squad, including sprint commitments, estimates, and speed-versus-quality trade-offs.
- Lead day-to-day team operations, including one-to-ones, standups, and removing blockers.
- Take operational ownership of shipped work by launching with dashboards and alerts, monitoring it, and supporting the health of the squad’s domain.
- Complete a structured handover with the Lead Frontend Engineer before her leave and return responsibilities when she comes back.

- Use Claude Code, OpenCode, or an equivalent agent setup fluently as a primary daily workflow on production code, including multi-step tasks and parallel sessions.
- Show experience configuring agent tooling, including instructions, subagents, MCP servers, tool permissions, and CI checks for agent output.
- Bring at least six years of production frontend development experience, with strong React skills and advanced TypeScript knowledge.
- Critically assess generated code and explain when to accept, revise, or reject it.
- Know Node.js and BFF patterns, REST API design, and automated testing with Playwright and Jest.
- Provide technical leadership through mentoring, standards-setting, codebase ownership, and guiding a squad through decisions.
- Own features from ticket through production with a focus on quality and reliability.
- Communicate clearly in writing and work autonomously in a remote-first agile team; English proficiency at C1 level.
- Preferred: Experience with Next.js and server-side rendering.
- Preferred: Familiarity with AWS or other cloud environments.
- Preferred: Experience in subscription, billing, or payments.
