Structural Engineer - HII Ingalls Shipbuilding Onsite

Analyze naval vessel structures for HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division, developing engineering specifications and conducting modeling, stress, fatigue, thermal, and structural analyses.

Description

  • Develop engineering specifications for metal, non-metallic, and composite structural materials
  • Support the design and operation of structural, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, power plant, armament, ventilation, equipment, and maintenance systems
  • Evaluate damage tolerance, durability, design allowables, and structural models
  • Conduct dynamics and loads, stability and stress, fatigue, and thermal analyses
  • Apply structural engineering tools including CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer, ShipConstructor, Navisworks, Autodesk Nastran, and FEMAP

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with 2 years of experience, or a Master of Science or higher in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with no experience required
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Experience with finite element analysis, hull scantling analysis, welding, fasteners, and military specifications and standards is preferred
  • Relocation assistance is not available
  • This position is not eligible for telework
  • No travel is required
