Staff Site Reliability Engineer, NinjaTrader, Hybrid
Lead site reliability engineering for NinjaTrader’s futures trading platform. Own Kubernetes, automation, observability, security, and 99.95% uptime initiatives.
Description
- Lead the SRE function by setting technical direction and mentoring engineers
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues
- Join the weekly 12x7 on-call rotation, including weekend deployments and Sunday pre-market checks
- Conduct initial root cause analysis and remediate production incidents
- Create tools that automate recurring tasks, deployments, and incident response
- Design monitoring and alerting systems while defining and tracking SLIs and SLOs across web, mobile, desktop, and trading platforms
- Use Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform to automate provisioning, scaling, and infrastructure management
- Partner with Product Engineering, Operations, Product, and QA to deliver scalable, secure, high-performance features
- Apply security and compliance practices, including SOC 2 and PCI DSS, throughout the software delivery lifecycle
- Support 99.95% uptime and strong performance across NinjaTrader’s trading platform
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in DevOps, site reliability engineering, or platform engineering
- Advanced expertise with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or equivalent platforms
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go
- Experience using Ansible, Terraform, or Helm
- Practical experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure
- Deep knowledge of cloud networking, security, and identity management
- Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or comparable observability tools
- Strong collaboration, communication, and technical leadership abilities
- Ability to influence cross-team technical decisions and mentor junior engineers
