Staff Data Systems Architect at MyFitnessPal - Remote US
Lead the architecture of MyFitnessPal’s product data stack as a Staff Data Systems Architect. Guide integrations, governance, compliance, access, and vendor strategy for a health and fitness platform.
Description
- Own the full systems design for MyFitnessPal’s product data stack
- Build and maintain the architecture roadmap for the product data stack
- Act as the primary Data Platform contact for the consolidated data environment
- Coordinate work across Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Product Analytics, and backend engineering
- Set and uphold standards for data movement and normalization across the stack
- Lead architecture reviews for new tools and assess vendors against the current environment
- Identify overlapping tools and support proof-of-value assessments
- Help shape compliance architecture for user data, including PII tagging and deletion and DSR policies
- Manage access permissions and licensing across the data stack
- Keep a consolidated view of data-stack spending and access
- Record and promote architecture decisions, standards, and ownership models throughout the organization
Requirements
- 8–12 or more years in systems design, architecture, or engineering positions
- 3–5 or more years designing complete data-platform architectures at architect or staff level
- Background integrating modern customer data stacks that include product analytics, experimentation, attribution, and marketing activation tools
- Experience with Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms, including performance tuning, cost control, and role-based access design
- Track record leading vendor assessments, tool consolidation, or platform migration initiatives
- Experience delivering data governance, security, and compliance frameworks, including PII management and deletion or DSR workflows across multiple destinations
- Experience establishing organization-wide architecture standards and enforcing them through automation
- Demonstrated ownership of infrastructure and vendor costs
- Ability to drive architecture decisions across teams and organizational boundaries
- Familiarity with tools including Amplitude, Eppo, Harness, AppsFlyer, and Braze
- Preferred: experience with semantic or metrics layers using dbt or comparable tools
- Preferred: experience with data cataloging and governance platforms and metadata stewardship programs
- Preferred: experience working in fast-paced experimentation organizations
- Preferred: advanced SQL proficiency and practical experience
- Preferred: experience in consumer subscription application environments
- Preferred: experience making governed data safely accessible to AI assistants and agents
- Eligibility to work in the United States, consistent with the Remote-US location and MyFitnessPal’s E-Verify participation
