Description

  • Lead end-to-end software architecture across native mobile, backend, and navify cloud systems
  • Define system designs, integration boundaries, and technical decisions across applications and cloud services
  • Create technical designs, architecture decision records, and C4 models
  • Balance cost, risk, time to value, and reuse when making architectural decisions
  • Distinguish regulated and non-regulated product areas to support medical-device compliance
  • Advance an AI-assisted software development lifecycle with agentic tools
  • Set standards and guardrails for reliable, accountable AI-assisted engineering
  • Design Java and Spring backend services using modular and domain-driven architecture
  • Define data and integration flows across the navify Platform, including identity, consent, notifications, AI, and FHIR
  • Help develop reusable product blueprints and shared mobile and navify foundations
  • Provide squads with technical direction and support the resolution of architectural decisions
  • Collaborate with mobile specialists and the Cloud and DevOps sub-chapter
  • Lead design reviews, pairing sessions, and mentoring
  • Create documentation suitable for audits
  • Contribute to the technical direction of the shared architecture capability
  • Build prototypes when needed, with approximately 80% of the role focused on architecture, design, and technical leadership and 20% on prototyping
  • Travel approximately 10%, mainly between the Vienna and Sant Cugat sites and for the Roche architecture community

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success designing systems spanning mobile, backend, and cloud environments
  • Sufficient native mobile expertise to collaborate effectively with mobile specialists
  • Strong knowledge of cloud and backend architecture
  • Proficiency in Java and Spring
  • Experience with modular and domain-driven design
  • Expertise in APIs and system integration
  • Understanding of cloud-native patterns and DevOps
  • Experience with CI/CD practices
  • Hands-on experience with agentic AI tools such as Claude Code
  • Ability to evaluate the reliability of AI-assisted work
  • Capability to produce technical designs, architecture decision records, and C4 models
  • Background in regulated or safety-critical environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to make informed trade-offs and contribute hands-on prototypes
  • Experience with a major cloud provider is advantageous
  • Experience with SaMD or medical-device software is strongly advantageous
  • FHIR and healthcare data standards, identity and consent platforms, reference architecture or platform teams, and deeper SaMD experience are additional advantages
