Senior Security Engineer - Scottsdale Hybrid

Senior Security Engineer responsible for security tooling, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, and compliance across Early Warning’s U.S. payment infrastructure. The role emphasizes automation, incident support, risk assessment, and mentoring security team members.

Description

  • Oversee the adoption, availability, and effective use of information security tools
  • Maintain vulnerability and configuration management baselines
  • Verify the security of custom software and the accuracy and completeness of related documentation
  • Assess current and prospective security tools to support ongoing improvement
  • Upgrade and patch applications and operating systems
  • Manage certificate replacement and remediate equipment vulnerabilities
  • Integrate security tools with corporate infrastructure alongside operations teams
  • Collaborate with auditors on compliance activities
  • Identify security tooling gaps and investigate potential solutions
  • Monitor tool health and coordinate maintenance or remediation
  • Keep tools, operating systems, and supporting applications on vendor-supported versions
  • Complete compliance records and resolve identified gaps
  • Find and implement automation for repeatable processes
  • Support incident resolution and risk assessments with security teams
  • Optimize the value delivered by purchased security tools
  • Help develop and maintain security policies and procedures
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Cross-train with other security engineering personnel
  • Mentor junior security engineers and oversee security interns
  • Safeguard the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data
  • Handle other related responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or two-year degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 5 years of general information technology experience
  • At least 3 years of IT security experience
  • Experience with, or certifications in, enterprise vulnerability scanning platforms and vulnerability management frameworks
  • Experience with, or certifications in, enterprise endpoint security, antivirus, or data loss prevention tools
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux and Windows administration
  • Proficiency in Python scripting
  • Advanced knowledge of networking concepts, including routing, Layer 2, Layer 3, and NAT
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise firewall rule design and packet capture analysis
  • Proficiency managing SSL/TLS certificates, certificate chains, and certificate request, issuance, and renewal processes
  • Ability to work in a standard office setting and perform sedentary computer-based duties
  • Ability to occasionally lift 10 pounds and frequently exert negligible force
  • Ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must independently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer when hired
