Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) - Remote, United States

Lead Oracle database administration for a federal customer across cloud and on-premises environments. Manage high availability, disaster recovery, performance tuning, and day-to-day operational support.

Description

  • Administer, configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Oracle database environments
  • Build, configure, and manage standalone Oracle databases
  • Support Oracle Grid environments and related high-availability technologies
  • Manage Oracle RMAN backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations
  • Install, upgrade, maintain, and patch database software
  • Maintain High Availability and Disaster Recovery capabilities
  • Investigate and triage database, server, application integration, and performance issues
  • Conduct advanced Oracle and SQL performance tuning, including optimizer and storage troubleshooting
  • Create and maintain database scripts and PL/SQL automation
  • Design and maintain backup, restore, recovery, and point-in-time recovery procedures
  • Define and uphold database configuration, performance, security, and operational standards
  • Track database health, capacity, and performance while identifying emerging issues
  • Support database monitoring and alerting through enterprise monitoring platforms
  • Handle incidents, service requests, and Requests for Change (RFCs)
  • Record troubleshooting, maintenance, configuration updates, and support work
  • Lead technical response during complex incidents and root cause investigations
  • Collaborate independently and with application, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and other technical teams
  • Present technical information clearly to technical staff, managers, and business stakeholders
  • Take part in scheduled after-hours maintenance, including patching, server reboots, and database or server support
  • Prepare required weekly activity and accomplishment reports

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in database administration or related database disciplines
  • Advanced experience administering Oracle databases
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Database
  • Experience supporting Oracle Grid
  • Experience using Oracle RMAN
  • Experience developing with PL/SQL
  • Background in database backup and recovery
  • Experience tuning database performance
  • Experience with database patching and maintenance
  • Experience supporting High Availability and Disaster Recovery
  • Experience with database monitoring and alerting
  • Experience with database security and auditing
  • Experience troubleshooting incidents and conducting root cause analysis
  • Experience administering databases in enterprise production environments
  • Ability to work independently and across technical teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
