Description

  • Turn open-ended problems into defined projects and delivered features
  • Guide technical and architectural choices while aligning the team
  • Develop and maintain customer-facing APIs, backend services, and data models
  • Design and update database schemas and data models for the client-side application
  • Create secure APIs that scale
  • Work with Product, UX, and Data to turn user needs into technical solutions
  • Take part in planning, design, and code reviews
  • Investigate production issues and identify their root causes
  • Set up and maintain backend monitoring, alerting, and observability
  • Coach colleagues and help the engineering team work more effectively
  • Use AI-assisted tools in development workflows

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of professional software development experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Ability to define solutions independently for ambiguous problems
  • Strong backend development experience with Node.js
  • Strong API design skills, including API security
  • Experience with relational databases and schema design; PostgreSQL and SQL are preferred
  • Ability to work across API and data layers
  • Strong product mindset
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with metrics, monitoring, and alerting tools such as Grafana, Kibana, and ElastAlert
  • Clear communication skills, including explaining technical views, building consensus, and leading technical decisions
  • Additional backend experience with Python or Java is a plus
  • Familiarity with modern AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code is a plus
