Senior Manager, US GAAP and Technical Accounting - Tempe, AZ (Hybrid)

Lead technical accounting for Amtech Systems’ semiconductor equipment and services businesses in a senior hybrid role based in Tempe, Arizona. The position covers US GAAP research, SEC reporting, accounting policy, acquisition accounting, and standards implementation.

Description

  • Act as the company’s technical accounting authority for complex judgments and newly issued accounting standards
  • Conduct research and prepare audit-ready analyses on ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 805, ASC 350/360, ASC 718, financial instruments, ASC 810, and other major GAAP matters
  • Prepare technical memoranda that document conclusions, alternatives, authoritative support, and rationale for review by executives and auditors
  • Lead purchase accounting work, coordinate valuation activities, and address accounting considerations during acquisition integration
  • Evaluate customer contracts, supply agreements, and partnership arrangements for technical accounting implications
  • Oversee technical accounting activities and collaborate with SEC Reporting on external disclosures
  • Assist with the preparation, review, and analysis of 10-Q and 10-K filings, earnings releases, footnotes, and MD&A
  • Advise stakeholders on compliance with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • Support the adoption of new accounting standards and related disclosures, including significant estimates
  • Help develop materials for the Audit Committee and management reporting
  • Provide broader accounting support to the Corporate Controller
  • Train Finance and Accounting teams on new standards, recurring judgment topics, and effective practices
  • Track FASB developments and evolving interpretations, assess impacts, quantify effects, and lead implementation plans
  • Independently deliver accurate work across high-volume, deadline-driven assignments

Requirements

  • At least eight years of progressively responsible accounting experience focused substantially on US GAAP and technical accounting
  • Background in public accounting at a Big Four or national firm, or in technical accounting for a publicly traded company
  • Required bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA certification is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to produce rigorous technical memoranda, research analyses, and accounting policy documentation
  • Advanced proficiency with Active Disclosure, Workiva (Wdesk), or a comparable SEC filing platform, including tagging, version control, workflow administration, and 10-Q/10-K preparation
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and independent professional judgment
  • Experience with SEC reporting, SOX 404 compliance, and coordination with external auditors
  • Ability to oversee several complex initiatives with competing demands in a fast-moving public-company setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial technology, or capital equipment is preferred
  • Familiarity with multi-entity organizations, global consolidation, foreign exchange, or intercompany processes
  • Working knowledge of SEC, SOX, and audit compliance obligations
  • Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple deadlines
