Senior iOS or Android Engineer – Swift, Kotlin (Texas Remote)
Lead mobile architecture and development for OleOle’s football-focused social, messaging, video, payments, and live-content applications. Own features end to end, from technical design through production release on the App Store or Google Play.
Description
- Lead the architecture and development of OleOle’s native iOS or Android application
- Partner closely with backend, product, and design teams
- Connect the mobile application to backend APIs and real-time services
- Develop high-performance social feeds and microblogging features
- Deliver short-form vertical video capture, uploading, playback, and media processing
- Build encrypted one-to-one messaging and real-time chat
- Integrate voice and video calling capabilities
- Develop contacts, invitations, and user-discovery features
- Implement live scores, real-time match events, and push notifications
- Integrate authentication, account administration, and secure session controls
- Develop wallet, payment, and rewards features
- Add localization and translation support
- Improve launch time, scrolling, media playback, networking, caching, and battery efficiency
- Design dependable experiences for poor or intermittent network connectivity
- Own testing, debugging, and production reliability
- Carry features from architecture through App Store or Google Play release
Requirements
- At least seven years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial native iOS or Android development
- Expert Swift skills with strong production experience in SwiftUI, or expert Kotlin skills with strong production experience in Jetpack Compose
- A proven record of architecting, building, and releasing complex consumer iOS or Android applications
- Experience delivering a substantial product involving social feeds, messaging, short-form video, live content, or real-time communications
- Strong experience developing mobile applications with WebSockets and real-time, event-driven behavior
- Production experience with WebRTC or comparable voice and video calling technology
- For iOS: strong knowledge of AVFoundation, Swift concurrency, APNs, Keychain or secure storage, the iOS lifecycle, and App Store review and releases
- For Android: strong knowledge of Kotlin Coroutines and Flow, CameraX, Media3 or ExoPlayer, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Android Keystore or secure storage, and Android lifecycle and device or OS fragmentation
- A strong grasp of networking, caching, memory management, and mobile performance optimization
- Experience integrating complex backend APIs and collaborating directly with backend engineers as those APIs evolve
- Experience implementing authentication, session management, and privacy-sensitive functionality
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead a major application or feature from architecture through production
- Strong debugging, profiling, testing, and production troubleshooting abilities
- A hands-on engineering approach focused on writing production code rather than primarily managing engineers
- Creative problem-solving skills and a willingness to propose and support new ideas
- Ability to work across a broad range of technical problems and technologies
- Comfort working with ambiguity, changing priorities, and the challenges of an early-stage company
- Entrepreneurial judgment that supports independence instead of micromanagement
- Understanding of football and international sports is a significant advantage
