Senior Design Manager, Themed Entertainment – Shanghai (Hybrid)

Lead regional creative direction and design delivery for Warner Bros. Discovery’s themed entertainment, live entertainment, and experiential projects. Based in Shanghai, this role partners with teams and business leaders across APAC and the United States.

Description

  • Set regional creative direction for themed entertainment while maintaining brand consistency and strategic alignment
  • Lead local and regional projects from initial concept through production
  • Manage design partners, licensees, and consultants
  • Work with US-based creative teams and business leaders across APAC and the United States
  • Develop creative concepts for pop-ups, theme parks, exhibitions, location-based entertainment, and live shows
  • Direct art for themed environments, experiential spaces, graphics, and live entertainment
  • Review and refine scripts for live entertainment and media productions
  • Develop and present creative concepts to partners, senior leaders, and team members
  • Evaluate and approve show set packages, production drawings, graphics, and media
  • Work with partners, vendors, and brand assurance teams to keep delivery aligned with approved concepts
  • Collaborate with product managers to create designs that support business objectives and strategies
  • Establish and distribute effective practices across the organization
  • Coordinate with brand and franchise management, data insights, project management, and marketing teams
  • Apply knowledge of construction and design for built environments and related components
  • Report to the Vice President for Creative

Requirements

  • 8–12 years of experience in themed entertainment or a closely related discipline
  • Hands-on site installation experience and broad knowledge of materials and industry best practices
  • Bachelor’s degree in entertainment, art, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools, Adobe Creative Suite, and Keynote
  • Ability to create sketches and polished renderings
  • Background in themed entertainment, film, theater, or live entertainment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Collaborative, solutions-oriented leadership style with the ability to deliver under tight deadlines
  • Proactive and accountable approach, with consistently high standards of integrity
  • Knowledge of industry trends and guest experience design; fluency in English and Mandarin required.
