Description

  • Translate business and stakeholder needs into practical technical solution designs.
  • Produce thorough design documentation for technical audiences across multiple teams.
  • Take ownership of delivering successful data solutions.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, colleagues, and cross-functional business teams.
  • Estimate, prioritise, and complete work in a fast-moving commercial setting.
  • Build scalable, resilient, and secure data solutions spanning ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and downstream integrations.
  • Work with Data Engineering and Architecture teams to develop, operate, and improve the Data Platform.
  • Promote industry-aligned engineering practices and ongoing process improvement.
  • Offer technical direction, support, and mentoring to junior engineers and broader data teams.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience delivering data solutions in a commercial environment.
  • Practical experience with modern cloud platforms, ideally AWS; Azure or Google Cloud experience is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT methods and tools including Matillion, AWS services, and Python.
  • Experience with modern cloud data warehouses and platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or equivalent technologies.
  • Advanced SQL skills covering both DML and DDL.
  • Capacity to learn and adopt new technologies, concepts, and working practices quickly.
  • Proven ability to create high-quality technical documentation across the complete solution delivery lifecycle.
  • Ability to explain complex technical subjects clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience delivering projects in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
  • Strong planning and estimation abilities, with consistent delivery against agreed timelines.
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
