Senior Backend API Engineer at Odaseva

Description
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs from design through production.
- Lead complex features and subsystems across multiple services.
- Design systems for large data volumes, multi-tenancy, performance, and cloud cost efficiency.
- Investigate issues across systems.
- Profile and optimize production code.
- Spot risks before they affect customers.
- Use AI tools in daily engineering work, critically reviewing their output.
- Improve team practices and code quality through design proposals and code reviews.
- Mentor colleagues.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- At least seven years of hands-on backend development experience.
- Experience leading significant features from design through delivery.
- Deep expertise in at least one backend language: Node.js/TypeScript, PHP, Go, or Python.
- Production experience with two or more backend languages is a strong advantage.
- Ability to quickly understand complex systems and take ownership of key components.
- Strong software design and distributed systems fundamentals, including event-driven architectures, queues, database performance, and testing.
- Experience with AWS, including serverless services, containers, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience with observability tools.
- Salesforce experience is a plus.
- An equivalent engineering school degree or a master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Fluency in English and French.
