Senior AWS Cloud and DevOps Consultant at DVT — South Africa Remote

Lead AWS cloud architecture, Salesforce integrations, CI/CD modernization and observability for DVT’s client lottery systems. Partner with CRM and data teams across AWS and Google Cloud.

Description

  • Support the client’s CRM and data teams with cloud initiatives
  • Build Salesforce integrations with AWS-hosted systems using synchronous APIs, Amazon EventBridge and Amazon S3 batch flows
  • Use AWS services to deliver capabilities not available natively in Salesforce
  • Design secure, reliable and supportable integrations with error handling, retries and replay
  • Modernize GitLab CI/CD by moving from GitFlow to the group-standard trunk-based deployment and propagation model
  • Strengthen repository security scanning with Snyk
  • Implement observability across AWS and Salesforce through tracing, dashboards and alerting
  • Develop Amazon CloudWatch capabilities and evaluate external observability platforms
  • Establish GCP accounts, permissions and foundational infrastructure for Google Analytics and BigQuery
  • Own AWS solution architecture and lead design, environment setup, configuration, testing and delivery
  • Mentor engineers, set technical direction and uphold delivery quality
  • Make and defend AWS architecture, security, configuration and operational decisions
  • Present and justify technical designs to cloud engineers, CRM stakeholders and business leaders
  • Collaborate with the client’s existing cloud and CRM teams
  • Provide client-facing consulting and technical leadership

Requirements

  • More than 10 years of hands-on AWS cloud and DevOps engineering experience, including senior or lead-level team leadership
  • A track record of leading cloud or DevOps teams and directing technical delivery across complex AWS programmes
  • End-to-end ownership of AWS environment setup and configuration, with personal responsibility for architecture and implementation decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to configure and troubleshoot AWS environments directly
  • Experience building AWS integrations with API Gateway, Lambda, Amazon EventBridge and Amazon S3 file-based batch workflows
  • Strong GitLab CI/CD experience, including trunk-based development and deployment or promotion patterns
  • Practical observability experience using Amazon CloudWatch for tracing, dashboards and alerting
  • Ability to propose solution architectures and explain and defend them to technical and business audiences
  • Strong communication skills
  • Google Cloud experience with projects, IAM, foundational infrastructure and BigQuery is advantageous
  • Salesforce integration experience with Platform Events, Change Data Capture, REST or Bulk APIs is advantageous
  • Experience using Snyk or comparable SCA/SAST tools in CI/CD pipelines is advantageous
  • Experience with AWS X-Ray, OpenTelemetry or observability platforms such as Datadog or Grafana is advantageous
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, AWS CDK or CloudFormation is advantageous
  • AWS Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer certification is advantageous
  • Experience contributing to large multi-country or multi-brand platform consolidation programmes is advantageous
  • Legal authorization to work in South Africa without employer sponsorship
  • Matric or equivalent qualification
