R&D Electronics Engineer – Hybrid, Harelbeke

Design, test, and improve electronics hardware for Smappee’s energy-management and EV-charging products. The role covers prototype validation, reliability analysis, debugging, and production support.

Description

  • Design PCBAs for products and test systems
  • Document and validate PCBA designs
  • Contribute to safety, EMC, and standards testing
  • Develop test scripts and test, debug, and review complete assemblies
  • Confirm that prototypes meet quality requirements and applicable standards before mass production
  • Integrate prototypes into demonstration and test setups
  • Prepare documentation for suppliers and operations
  • Analyze component failures from production and field use
  • Trace failures within the reliability program
  • Evaluate alternative components for existing designs
  • Support component lifecycle management
  • Modify production test tooling for alternative components
  • Provide second-line support to production lines
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges and support continuous improvement

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in electronics
  • Professional experience designing electronics hardware
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Knowledge of EMC testing, signal integrity, and general hardware design principles
  • Knowledge of C# and/or Python
  • Ability to debug and modify embedded software
  • Ability to use AI to support work activities
  • Strong analytical skills and close attention to detail
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding English documentation
  • A commitment to continuous improvement
  • A practical “can-do” attitude
