Description

  • Architect and design complex, distributed backend systems at scale.
  • Own key architecture decisions, design patterns, and infrastructure selections.
  • Set technical direction for major product components and features.
  • Partner with engineering leaders, product managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Guide major feature delivery from design and prototyping through testing and deployment.
  • Tackle complex technical challenges through hands-on engineering.
  • Advance code quality, design reviews, scalable architecture, continuous improvement, and DevOps practices.
  • Coach and advise engineers across seniority levels.
  • Establish component test scenarios, expand API test automation, and maintain strong code coverage.
  • Apply and uphold security practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Diagnose performance constraints and lead improvements in performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Assess and recommend emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks.

Requirements

  • 16+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with a focus on backend development and distributed-systems architecture.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership through major-feature ownership, engineering mentorship, people management, and organization-wide initiatives.
  • Extensive experience designing microservices, REST and gRPC APIs, and Swagger/OpenAPI documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of scalable SQL and NoSQL databases, Redis, Memcached, and messaging systems including Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pub/Sub.
  • Expertise in at least one programming language, such as Java, Go, or Python.
  • Strong working knowledge of AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD systems such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks including JUnit or TestNG.
  • Experience with observability for monitoring, logging, and tracing using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Telecommunications experience is highly advantageous.
  • Understanding of 3GPP specifications covering EPC and 5G Core.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and influence decisions through technical expertise.
  • Daily use of AI tools and the ability to integrate new tools into established workflows.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
