Nursing Director - Mesa, Arizona (Hybrid)

Lead nursing operations, medication management, and client care for Anasazi Foundation’s outdoor behavioral health program. Supervise nursing staff and support field-based services across Arizona.

Description

  • Lead nursing and medical-support services for Anasazi Foundation’s Outdoor Behavioral Health Care Program
  • Manage nursing care, client health monitoring, medications, infection prevention, documentation, and continuity of care
  • Conduct or oversee nursing assessments, health screenings, medication reconciliation, and evaluations of client health needs
  • Deliver direct nursing care and take part in scheduled field visits
  • Coordinate medical needs with caregivers, pharmacies, laboratories, healthcare providers, hospitals, emergency services, and other resources
  • Manage medication preparation, administration, storage, documentation, reconciliation, and disposal
  • Supervise, onboard, train, and assess nursing staff while coordinating contracted nursing providers
  • Educate clients, families, and staff on health and medication-related matters
  • Review nursing records, medication errors, significant medical events, infection risks, and health and safety indicators
  • Contribute to quality improvement, risk management, incident reviews, emergency planning, internal audits, and accreditation work
  • Create, update, and maintain nursing policies, procedures, medical protocols, and supply inventories
  • Arrange medically necessary dietary, allergy-related, and other health-related food adjustments
  • Escalate significant medical, medication, safety, and regulatory issues to leadership and relevant personnel
  • Protect confidentiality, professional boundaries, client rights, and mandatory-reporting obligations
  • Collaborate with clients, families, field teams, clinical staff, healthcare providers, and emergency resources
  • Follow applicable federal and Arizona laws, nursing-board rules, AZDHS requirements, Joint Commission standards, HIPAA, infection-prevention practices, and Anasazi policies

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program that qualifies the candidate for Registered Nurse licensure in Arizona
  • Unrestricted Arizona Registered Nurse license in good standing
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card as required by applicable law and Anasazi policy
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record when field assignments or medical transportation are required
  • Professional nursing experience
  • Nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Background in behavioral health, adolescent health, residential care, emergency care, community health, or outdoor behavioral health preferred
  • Advanced emergency or field-medical credentials, such as ACLS, Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, or an equivalent, preferred when relevant
  • Strong nursing assessment and clinical judgment
  • Nursing leadership and staff supervision capabilities
  • Medication management and medication-safety expertise
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and health monitoring
  • Behavioral health and adolescent nursing experience or knowledge
  • Emergency response and field-based nursing capability
  • Accurate nursing documentation and regulatory compliance skills
  • Understanding of client rights, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and mandatory reporting
  • Quality improvement and risk management experience
  • Ability to educate staff and oversee clinical competencies
  • Effective interdisciplinary communication and care coordination
  • Capacity to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Willingness to travel regularly in the field, including across uneven terrain and changing weather and elevation conditions
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, emergencies, or on-call coverage as needed
