Description

  • Manage cases independently from initial intake through final resolution
  • Formulate and carry out legal strategies informed by factual investigation and legal research
  • Communicate substantively with courts, administrative agencies, clients, financial institutions, and opposing counsel
  • Prepare and assess pleadings, motions, briefs, appeals, agreements, and security instruments
  • Attend hearings and trials as needed
  • Handle Medicaid eligibility and reimbursement matters, administrative appeals, civil litigation, probate and estate claims, and guardianships
  • Partner with paralegals and centralized operations personnel within a remote legal practice

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • At least three years of substantive legal practice
  • Active license in at least two of North Carolina, South Carolina, or Virginia; other active licenses may also be considered
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy abilities
  • Capacity to work autonomously and collaborate effectively with a remote team
  • Strong organization, time management, and personal accountability
  • Persistent, resourceful, and proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Confidence in taking ownership of matters and results from beginning to end
  • Willingness to travel for in-person hearings, firm training and meetings, and other firm-sponsored events
  • Proficiency with Mac or Apple operating systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience using timekeeping and case management software
  • Familiarity with legal research applications
