Lead Product Software Engineer, DevOps and Web Platforms

Lead the standardization of Disney’s global consumer web platforms across React, APIs, AWS, and edge delivery. Drive platform migrations, reliability, observability, developer tooling, and governed AI-assisted engineering practices.

Description

  • Build, modernize, and take end-to-end ownership of guest-facing web applications
  • Work across rendered frontends, APIs, identity integrations, caching behavior, and delivery layers
  • Shape and deliver long-term technical strategy across brand websites
  • Advance adoption of paved-path architecture patterns and engineering standards
  • Lead migrations from legacy stacks to current platforms while avoiding guest-facing regressions
  • Reduce engineering friction through tooling, debugging interfaces, deployment models, and automation
  • Define standards for AI-assisted development, including review gates, validation, and observability
  • Offer technical direction and mentorship to senior engineers
  • Lead design reviews and partner with P5 Engineering Leads on technology-stack standardization
  • Own the performance, scalability, and resilience of mission-critical cloud services
  • Shape department-wide technical planning and manage risks across critical site projects

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of relevant software engineering or architecture experience
  • Professional experience building and delivering guest-facing web applications
  • Hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, and server-side rendering
  • Experience developing backend services and APIs
  • Strong knowledge of HTTP, DNS, caching strategies, REST, and GraphQL
  • Practical experience developing and maintaining high-volume distributed services on AWS
  • Experience with CloudFront or a comparable content delivery network
  • A completed legacy-platform migration or large-scale standardization initiative led through delivery
  • Ability to make technical decisions that extend beyond your immediate team
  • Ability to explain complex technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders
  • Production configuration experience with Varnish, HAProxy, or CloudFront is preferred
  • Experience creating developer tooling, debugging interfaces, or branch-based deployment models is preferred
  • Experience with gated AI-assisted development practices is preferred
  • Experience with observability and alerting in Datadog is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
