Lead Middleware Infrastructure Engineer at Bank of America

Lead middleware infrastructure engineering for Bank of America’s high-availability banking platforms in an onsite role. Administer WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Java, production stability, and regulatory releases.

Description

  • Design infrastructure tools and services within technical domains while following architectural governance, standards, and policies
  • Lead tool and service deployments through solution development, templates, playbooks, and automation
  • Convert application and business needs into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks
  • Define or select functional and non-functional criteria for evaluating products
  • Review and develop software solutions for manual, repetitive, or inefficient processes
  • Assess reference models, blueprints, playbooks, and third-party products
  • Mentor infrastructure staff on infrastructure services and application-integration validation methods
  • Administer critical banking middleware platforms end to end, including WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, IBM HTTP Server, and WXS
  • Deliver enterprise middleware projects and regulatory initiatives
  • Maintain production reliability and apply middleware patches
  • Install, configure, tune, and support middleware servers
  • Provide middleware and Java support to application and testing teams
  • Create, maintain, and support application deployment templates
  • Act as a J2EE architect and advise on best practices for J2EE application development
  • Design middleware infrastructure and topology for high availability and failover
  • Provide technical guidance and communicate with enterprise business partners
  • Work with internal customers and external vendors across the software development life cycle
  • Execute production changes for integrated and regulatory releases

Requirements

  • At least seven years of experience as an information technology professional
  • Experience with Apache, J2EE, Java, JBoss, WebSphere Application Server, and Tomcat
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Knowledge of Java and container frameworks
  • Familiarity with shell, Jython, and Perl scripting
  • Understanding of HTTP/S, TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, load balancers, firewalls, proxies, and B2B links
  • Experience with Ansible, Ansible Tower, XLR, and BitBucket
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field preferred
  • Previous Bank of America experience preferred
  • WebSphere Extreme Scale and BPM middleware administration experience preferred
  • DevOps experience preferred
  • Experience with BMC Truesight Server Automation, Harman mDeliver, Terraform, and Ansible Tower preferred
