Junior Software Engineer (Hybrid) - Sparibis

Join Sparibis as a junior software engineer developing Java and Spring enterprise applications in a hybrid Maryland role. Support AWS deployments, CI/CD, automated testing, and Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration efforts.

Description

  • Build full-stack applications with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and relational databases
  • Create responsive interfaces with Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Develop and integrate application components, REST services, APIs, persistence layers, and external interfaces
  • Convert business and system requirements into practical technical solutions
  • Maintain the existing platform while designing, developing, and documenting new functionality
  • Support the Oracle-to-PostgreSQL cloud migration through application changes, database integration, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines and automated build, test, and deployment workflows with GitHub Actions and Jenkins
  • Assist with software testing and validation during periods of elevated testing or release activity
  • Create and maintain automated unit, integration, and functional tests using tools including Playwright, Xray, and QMetry
  • Diagnose and resolve application, integration, build, deployment, and environment problems
  • Support AWS container infrastructure and collaborate with system administrators and other technical team members
  • Support application analytics and reporting features, including IBM Cognos Analytics integration
  • Follow architecture, programming, UI, configuration-management, federal-security, and SDLC standards
  • Manage code, scripts, and configuration files in source control
  • Use Atlassian tools as part of the Scrum development process
  • Partner with administrators to configure automated builds, tests, and deployments across environments through Jenkins and GitHub Actions

Requirements

  • At least three years of software development experience supporting enterprise applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required to qualify for the security clearance
  • Background developing, enhancing, troubleshooting, and maintaining web-based enterprise applications across the full SDLC
  • Professional experience with the Java Spring Framework
  • Experience with Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and/or CSS
  • Experience building RESTful web services and/or microservices
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL, including application and database integration
  • Experience working in AWS cloud environments and deploying AWS-based applications
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated build, test, and deployment workflows
  • Experience with GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins
  • Experience with Git-based source control, including branches, merges, pull requests, and repository administration
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or comparable containerization tools
  • Experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or a similar scripting language
  • Experience supporting secure software deployment and configuration-management practices
  • Experience creating and running automated unit, integration, and/or functional tests
  • Experience using JIRA to manage assigned work and approval requests
  • Careful, detail-oriented approach to work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Hibernate, Spring, Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration, IBM Cognos Analytics, Playwright, Xray, and/or QMetry is preferred
