Genetic Counselor, Oncology – Provo Hybrid
Provide oncology genetic counseling at Intermountain Health’s Provo clinic. Support patient education, provider collaboration, clinical documentation, and research.
विवरण
- Deliver genetic counseling services to patients, care specialists, and referring physicians
- Assess disease occurrence and recurrence risk using family and medical histories
- Explain genetic concepts, inheritance, testing, management, prevention, resources, and research
- Conduct patient interviews and counsel individuals referred for genetic testing and other circumstances
- Collect medical records and develop family pedigrees
- Apply medical literature to evaluate genetic disorders and guide individualized care
- Provide tailored education, emotional support, and counseling to patients and families
- Evaluate diagnostic testing, care, intervention, and potential future outcomes
- Record patient contacts, ancillary services, communications, and counseling activities
- Complete documentation required for billing
- Participate in case conferences and other professional meetings
- Coordinate with care specialists and referring providers on collaborative care plans
- Educate Intermountain Healthcare staff on genetic counseling topics
- Develop educational resources for patients and providers
- Help standardize clinic-specific workflows
- Contribute to Intermountain research, project committees, and specialty-focused studies
- Supervise or educate genetic counseling graduate students as opportunities become available
आवश्यकताएँ
- Master’s degree from an accredited genetic counseling program
- Genetic counseling certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling and eligibility for state licensure
- American Board of Medical Genetics or American Board of Genetic Counseling certification required within two years of hire
- Broad knowledge of current developments in genetic diagnosis, treatment, and counseling
- Ability to research and evaluate scientific literature and publications
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Experience with PowerPoint, word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, email, and scheduling applications
- Proficiency in genetic counseling practice
- Interest in continued professional development
- Ability to see and read information, labels, documents, and monitors
- Ability to communicate verbally and hear and understand spoken information
- Manual dexterity for handling complex and delicate supplies and equipment
- Ability to drive a vehicle for roles that require driving
