  • Advise executives and business teams on complex legal, regulatory, product, litigation, and strategic matters.
  • Counsel teams on the development, launch, operation, and evolution of consumer financial products and services.
  • Interpret federal, state, and local consumer financial services laws and regulations.
  • Advise on legal matters involving bank-fintech partnerships and other strategic relationships.
  • Work across Product, Technology, Operations, Marketing, Compliance, Risk, Finance, and other teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Track legislative, regulatory, enforcement, and judicial developments, and lead implementation of required changes.
  • Drive significant cross-functional legal and regulatory initiatives through implementation.
  • Oversee major litigation and disputes, including consumer cases, arbitrations, class and representative actions, regulatory enforcement, and other material matters.
  • Set case strategy, manage outside counsel, assess exposure, and advise Legal and business leaders.
  • Counsel on regulatory examinations, investigations, inquiries, audits, and dealings with regulators and government authorities.
  • Identify legal and business risks and develop practical, commercially sound ways to address them.
  • Guide teams on privacy, data use, electronic payments and communications, marketing, consumer disclosures, and other digital finance issues.
  • Partner with Compliance and control functions on regulatory change, risk assessments, vendor oversight, policies, procedures, audits, examinations, and remediation.
  • Lead and support Legal team members, including their professional development.
  • Manage outside counsel and other legal resources, including scope, strategy, advice, and spending.
  • Build a strong understanding of the company’s business, products, technology, operations, and strategic goals.
  • Take on other significant legal matters and strategic initiatives as business needs evolve.

आवश्यकताएँ

  • J.D. from an American Bar Association-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • At least 10 years of relevant legal experience.
  • At least five years of in-house legal experience at an online consumer lender, fintech, bank, or other company offering consumer credit products.
  • Substantial experience advising on consumer lending products and federal and state consumer financial services laws.
  • Experience advising product and business teams on building, implementing, and operating regulated financial products.
  • Experience with regulatory examinations, investigations, enforcement matters, or dealings with federal or state regulators.
  • Consumer financial services litigation, arbitration, or enforcement experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with bank-fintech partnerships or bank-sponsored lending programs is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to independently handle complex, high-impact legal matters and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to spot emerging legal and regulatory risks and lead cross-functional initiatives through implementation.
  • Ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to executives, business leaders, technical teams, and other non-lawyers.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-changing environment and balance competing priorities.
  • Collaborative, low-ego approach, with the confidence, judgment, and leadership to own significant matters independently.
