Senior/Principal Civil Engineer – Ports and Maritime | Amentum | Glasgow Hybrid
Senior Ports and Maritime Engineer role with Amentum, supporting UK defence infrastructure programmes from Glasgow on a hybrid basis. The position covers technical design, deliverable review, and multidisciplinary project delivery.
Tavsif
- Provide engineering solutions across civil, structural, geotechnical, seismic, and maritime disciplines
- Work with multidisciplinary teams, colleagues, and clients
- Help deliver high-quality, sustainable project outcomes
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Ports and Maritime capability
- Mentor and support early-career engineers
- Contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and feasibility through detailed design and construction support
- Prepare and review high-quality technical deliverables
- Apply relevant standards, client requirements, and industry best practice
- Prioritise quality, safety, and constructability
- Address complex engineering issues with a practical, solutions-oriented approach
- Assist with managing project scope, programme, budget, and resources
- Deliver integrated, efficient, and effective multidisciplinary engineering solutions
Talablar
- Chartered Engineer status through ICE or IStructE
- Strong command of fundamental engineering principles and their practical use
- Proven civil and structural design experience
- Practical knowledge of applying British Standards and Eurocodes
- Professional experience in ports, maritime, or related heavy civil engineering
- Ability to turn technical expertise into solutions for complex real-world problems
- Familiarity with PIANC and OCIMF guidance is desirable
- Practical understanding of structural dynamics is desirable
- Awareness of, or experience with, Information Management systems is desirable
- Experience using or developing finite element structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro or SAP2000 is desirable
- Understanding of geotechnical principles, with experience or exposure to WALLAP and PLAXIS
- Awareness of NEC3/4 ECC contracts and their use in project delivery environments
