Senior Patent Counsel, Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry
Lead global patent strategy for Amgen’s therapeutic products and candidates, partnering with scientists and business teams. The role covers patent drafting and prosecution, freedom-to-operate analysis, licensing support, research agreements, and intellectual property disputes.
Tavsif
- Shape and execute global intellectual property strategies for Amgen’s therapeutic products and product candidates
- Partner with scientists to identify potentially patentable innovations
- Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications across international jurisdictions
- Perform prior art searches
- Assess patents and develop freedom-to-operate opinions
- Support licensing transactions through intellectual property due diligence
- Negotiate and prepare research agreements
- Advise R&D and business partners on intellectual property matters
- Support litigation and patent challenges or defenses in PTAB, opposition, and other proceedings
- Collaborate independently and within legal, R&D, and business teams across multiple geographies
Talablar
- J.D. or LL.M. degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction
- At least four years of intellectual property law experience
- Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
- Ten or more years of patent or intellectual property law experience preferred
- Experience handling U.S. and international biotechnology intellectual property matters in a law firm or biotechnology or pharmaceutical company preferred
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry preferred
- Strong analytical, legal drafting, and verbal and written communication abilities
- Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities with a strong client-service orientation
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize work, meet demanding deadlines, and manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with U.S. or international adversarial proceedings, including patent litigation, Inter Partes Reviews, Post Grant Reviews, or oppositions preferred
