Senior MySQL Database Administrator

Lead the design and operation of Aristocrat’s high-throughput MySQL platforms for production gaming workloads. Focus on performance, reliability, automation, security, and database governance.

Tavsif

  • Design and maintain highly available MySQL platforms for production game workloads exceeding 50,000 queries per second.
  • Build database architectures that support long-term growth, fault tolerance, and operational simplicity.
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps, capacity forecasts, and architectural decisions.
  • Find and resolve performance bottlenecks across schemas, queries, indexes, and configuration.
  • Manage performance issues from initial triage and root cause analysis through implementation and production verification.
  • Work with the Platform Reliability Team to define and meet database service level objectives.
  • Maintain automation for provisioning, backup and recovery, replication, failover, disaster recovery, schema migrations, and deployments.
  • Improve monitoring, alerting, and observability with tools such as PMM, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Bring performance and security checks earlier into development through tooling and guidance.
  • Set and enforce database security standards, access controls, and audit practices.
  • Support compliance with gaming regulations, PCI DSS, and other applicable requirements.
  • Review and advise on application changes involving databases.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Engineering, and Data Science teams on secure, scalable, high-performance database designs.
  • Review schema and query changes to the Product Madness codebase before release.
  • Offer practical technical support through pairing, design reviews, and consultation.
  • Create and maintain high-level and low-level design documentation for architecture, operations, and standard methods.
  • Provide database services and guidance to internal teams.
  • Improve team workflows, operational processes, and standards on an ongoing basis.
  • Mentor engineers and DBAs and strengthen database practices across the organization.
  • Model operational excellence, ownership, and technical rigor.

Talablar

  • Substantial experience running MySQL in critical production environments.
  • Experience with Percona MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB.
  • In-depth knowledge of MySQL internals.
  • In-depth knowledge of MongoDB internals.
  • Expertise in replication and backup and recovery strategies.
  • Expertise in query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Expertise in high availability and database scaling patterns.
  • Strong Linux administration skills.
  • A track record of operating databases efficiently and with low latency.
  • Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
  • Preferred: experience with MySQL clustering technologies such as Galera Cluster.
  • Preferred: experience with monitoring tools such as Percona PMM.
  • Preferred: experience with cloud platforms, especially GCP Cloud SQL; AWS experience is a plus.
  • Preferred: experience with infrastructure as code and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Helm.
