Senior Industrial Ducting Designer – Onsite, Texas

Designing fabrication-ready ducting, equipment, and structural components for heavy industrial pollution-control projects. This senior onsite role supports CECO Environmental’s industrial air, water, and energy-transition solutions.

Tavsif

  • Create complete project design packages with 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and material take-offs for heavy industrial equipment and ducting systems
  • Design large hot-exhaust and flue-gas ducting, including casings, transitions, and structural plate components for pollution-control applications
  • Independently assess project inputs, identify gaps or conflicts, and coordinate resolutions with Project Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain, and Project Management
  • Apply structural and mechanical design principles addressing thermal expansion, operating temperatures, mechanical loads, and cyclic service
  • Develop fabrication-ready details that account for materials, plate thicknesses, weld configurations, and shop-versus-field fabrication constraints
  • Coordinate ducting interfaces with SCR reactors, stacks, dampers, expansion joints, and related pollution-control and process equipment
  • Prepare drawings for customer approval, material procurement, and fabrication with attention to constructability, installation sequence, and maintenance access
  • Partner with Sales, Project Engineering, and Project Management to satisfy contractual requirements, technical standards, and project schedules
  • Complete and validate geometric and material calculations to support accurate designs and material take-offs
  • Review peer drawings and models for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with internal standards
  • Offer technical feedback and guidance when appropriate
  • Support document control, revision tracking, and distribution of project drawings to customers and fabricators
  • Help improve drafting standards, modeling methods, and design workflows

Talablar

  • Associate degree in computer-aided design, drafting, engineering technology, or a related field
  • Seven (8) or more years of progressive industrial structural or mechanical design experience, preferably with heavy industrial or process equipment
  • Proven experience designing industrial casing-plate ductwork and structural members
  • Experience designing large industrial ducting systems, preferably for elevated-temperature operation
  • Strong 3D modeling skills and experience producing fabrication-ready drawings
  • Sound understanding of geometry, spatial reasoning, and material quantity calculations
  • Autodesk Inventor or comparable 3D mechanical design software experience preferred
  • Experience with hot-exhaust or flue-gas ducting for combustion or pollution-control systems preferred
  • Experience coordinating designs with SCRs, baghouses, ESPs, or similar pollution-control equipment preferred
  • Familiarity with thermal expansion in large plate and duct structures preferred
  • Knowledge of butt-weld, socket-weld, and threaded piping systems preferred
  • Working knowledge of P&IDs, including interpretation and design evaluation preferred
  • Understanding of industrial fabrication and erection practices, including weld detailing for cyclic or high-temperature service preferred
  • Travel expected to remain at or below 15% of working hours
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must meet company attendance standards
  • Ability to perform the required physical activities, including sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions
  • Ability to complete complex work requiring close attention to accuracy and quality specifications or sustained hand-eye coordination
