Senior HPC Data Storage Engineer (RHEL) — AMERICAN SYSTEMS, Virginia Onsite

Senior engineer responsible for Linux-based parallel filesystems and enterprise storage in high-performance computing environments. Support secure, mission-critical scientific and technical computing for a federal contractor.

Tavsif

  • Administer and maintain high-performance storage infrastructure for Linux-based HPC systems
  • Manage storage capacity, quotas, data placement, utilization, and performance metrics
  • Monitor and resolve issues affecting parallel filesystems, storage hardware, and related infrastructure
  • Support SAN, NAS, archive, and other enterprise storage platforms
  • Evaluate storage performance and recommend enhancements for HPC users and mission workloads
  • Create scripts and automation with Bash, Python, Perl, or comparable tools
  • Assist with system maintenance, upgrades, incident response, and technical documentation
  • Implement required security controls, access permissions, and configuration-management practices
  • Work with HPC users, systems, network, and cybersecurity engineers, as well as government stakeholders
  • Provide remote technical assistance to a counterpart at an alternate site when needed

Talablar

  • Hold an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Be able to obtain and retain access to a Special Access Program
  • Have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline
  • Bring 5–7 years of relevant HPC, Linux, storage, systems administration, or infrastructure-engineering experience, or a related master's degree with at least 2 years of job-related experience
  • Hold a DoD 8140 IAT II or higher certification, such as Security+ CE or SecurityX CE
  • Have administered, monitored, or troubleshot a parallel filesystem such as Lustre, BeeGFS, GPFS, or an equivalent platform
  • Have supported production Linux systems and enterprise storage, including SAN, NAS, disk arrays, or tape and archive systems
  • Have hands-on scripting experience in Bash, Python, Perl, or a comparable language
  • Understand Linux filesystems, storage administration, permissions, quotas, and networking fundamentals
  • Be capable of diagnosing system, storage, software, and performance problems
  • Work effectively in a secure, controlled-access setting and communicate technical information clearly
  • RHCSA or RHCE certification is helpful
  • Experience with Ansible, Git, monitoring tools, or infrastructure automation is helpful
  • Production experience building, configuring, or administering Lustre or another HPC parallel filesystem is helpful
  • Experience with perf, strace, tcpdump, vmstat, or iostat is helpful
  • Experience with SAN infrastructure, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, multipathing, NVMe, or InfiniBand is helpful
  • Familiarity with XFS, EXT4, or ZFS is helpful
  • Experience supporting systems in a Department of War classified environment is helpful
