Senior Commercial Accountant - Warranty and Service Parts (Remote)
Own warranty accruals, service-parts accounting, and related controls for Slate Auto’s electric vehicles. Support audits, forecasting, SAP improvements, and cross-functional financial reporting in a remote U.S. role.
Tavsif
- Prepare and post journal entries for warranty accruals and service parts, covering monthly expense accruals, claim settlements, and inventory adjustments.
- Calculate quarterly and annual warranty accruals, including true-up schedules and supporting workpapers.
- Assemble reconciliations, workpapers, and supporting schedules for external audits.
- Maintain the warranty liability methodology, including roll-forwards and assumption inputs.
- Monitor changes in claims experience and flag significant shifts for management review.
- Support initiatives across Sales, Operations, Legal, Engineering, and FP&A with accounting data, analysis, and conclusions.
- Provide FP&A with actuals, accounting context, and variance explanations for forecasts and budgets.
- Execute and enhance accounting processes and internal controls for warranty and service liabilities.
- Identify opportunities to improve scalability, automation, and SOX readiness.
- Assess and escalate the accounting impact of new products, services, and operational changes.
- Help document accounting conclusions before and during product launches.
- Find SAP process improvements and work with IT to strengthen data accuracy, reporting, and operational insight.
- Report to the Manager, Commercial Accounting.
Talablar
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- At least four years of relevant accounting experience.
- Public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of warranty and contingent liability accounting under ASC 450, with practical experience preparing accruals, roll-forwards, and reconciliations.
- Experience with service-parts or spare-parts inventory accounting under ASC 330, including COGS, reserves, and cycle-count reconciliations.
- Proficiency with ERP systems; SAP experience is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate with IT on integrations and transaction-flow design.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to build processes from the ground up in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Automotive, electric-vehicle, or manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Must be authorized to work permanently in the United States.
- Able to communicate accounting conclusions clearly to non-accounting stakeholders and proactively escalate issues to the Manager, Commercial Accounting.
