Lead legal strategy for State Street Investment Management’s Asia-Pacific asset management business, advising on institutional distribution, regulation, products, and cross-border operations.

- Advise State Street Investment Management’s asset management business across Asia-Pacific.
- Lead legal professionals supporting the asset management business.
- Set legal direction for institutional distribution, investment services, client matters, regulation, and business initiatives.
- Oversee legal support across Hong Kong, Singapore, China, South Korea, Japan, India, and Australia.
- Advise on investment products, distribution, institutional clients, partnerships, and business initiatives.
- Negotiate investment management agreements, client mandates, and major commercial contracts.
- Guide senior management on legal, regulatory, governance, and risk issues.
- Track regulatory developments affecting regional asset management operations.
- Work with Compliance, Risk, Operations, Product, and other teams to address legal and regulatory risks.
- Report significant legal, regulatory, and business developments to senior leaders.
- Support the creation and launch of investment strategies, products, and strategic initiatives.
- Oversee external counsel relationships and associated legal spending.
- Represent State Street Investment Management at industry forums and build relationships with regulators, external counsel, and industry participants.
- Manage, develop, and engage legal team members.
- Act as a trusted strategic partner to senior business leaders.
- Build strong teams through coaching, professional development, and inclusion.
Talablar
- Legal qualification as a solicitor, attorney, or equivalent in a major financial jurisdiction, with Asia regional expertise.
- At least 12 years of relevant legal experience in investment management, asset management, financial services, or a leading law firm.
- Experience managing and developing legal teams.
- Extensive experience advising institutional asset management businesses and institutional clients.
- In-depth knowledge of investment management agreements, institutional distribution models, and asset management regulation.
- Experience advising on legal and regulatory matters affecting investment management in Asia, including India.
- Experience supporting asset management operations in India and understanding related legal and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence senior leaders and deliver clear, practical legal advice focused on solutions.
- Experience in the legal department of a global asset management firm supporting a large financial institution.
- Exposure to several Asia-Pacific regulatory regimes, including India.
- Experience with cross-border investment management structures.
- A record of advising senior executives on strategic business, regulatory, and governance matters.
