Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Tools and Systems
Build cloud systems, developer tools, and automation for Mozilla’s open-source Firefox engineering. Improve reliability, observability, performance, and operational efficiency.
Descriere
- Design, build, deploy, and run the software and systems that support Firefox engineering.
- Help develop developer tools, CI/CD pipelines, workflow automation, and AI-assisted development tools.
- Take complex problems across software, cloud, and operations from investigation to resolution, improving reliability, performance, observability, and cost efficiency.
- Partner with Firefox engineering, Cloud Engineering, IT, and other teams to solve challenges that cross technical and organizational boundaries.
- Use telemetry, metrics, and data analysis to investigate issues and inform engineering decisions.
- Shape architecture and technical strategy by identifying recurring problems and solutions that can benefit multiple teams.
- Move between projects and technical areas as needed, joining existing efforts or taking independent ownership of problems that need focused attention.
- Contribute improvements to the broader open-source ecosystem.
Cerințe
- Strong software engineering skills and substantial hands-on experience deploying and running production systems.
- Strong programming ability in languages such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience with C++ or Rust is useful.
- Experience building, deploying, and operating production systems in cloud environments.
- Experience using infrastructure as code, such as Terraform.
- Experience in several areas such as CI/CD, containers and orchestration, networking, databases, observability, or developer tooling.
- Experience using data, telemetry, and metrics to investigate technical problems and guide decisions.
- Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools, including their capabilities, limitations, and appropriate uses.
- Comfort working in unfamiliar systems and bringing them to a sustainable state.
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and connect software, infrastructure, and operational concerns.
- Hands-on engineering skills, systems thinking, and sound long-term technical judgment.
- Clear, consistent, respectful communication, with an interest in teaching and helping others develop skills in unfamiliar technical areas.
