Senior Tax Accountant – Hybrid in Waverly, Iowa

Descriere

  • Lead complex federal and state tax return preparation and review.
  • Prepare and review returns for individuals, C corporations, S corporations, and partnerships.
  • Develop tax plans aligned with each client’s finances and goals.
  • Apply current federal and Iowa tax rules to client engagements.
  • Advise business and individual clients on tax matters.
  • Provide tax and financial guidance tailored to clients’ personal and professional situations.
  • Identify broader financial solutions and build lasting client relationships.
  • Research complex federal and state tax issues.
  • Keep up with changes in tax legislation and compliance rules.
  • Help address IRS and state tax inquiries.
  • Check that tax filings are accurate and meet applicable requirements.
  • Offer guidance and technical review to junior accounting staff when needed.
  • Promote accuracy, consistency, and staff development across tax engagements.
  • Pursue career advancement, with possible firm ownership for high-performing senior professionals.

Cerințe

  • At least five years of progressive public accounting experience.
  • Substantial experience with corporate, partnership, and individual taxation.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing complex federal and state tax returns.
  • Strong knowledge of tax compliance, planning, and technical research.
  • Experience using tax preparation and accounting software such as UltraTax, CCH, or comparable platforms.
  • Ability to work in the Waverly office at least three days per week.
  • Current residence within practical commuting distance of Waverly, Iowa, or ability to commute regularly.
  • CPA credential preferred.
  • Enrolled Agent credential preferred.
  • Experience mentoring junior accounting staff or reviewing their work preferred.
  • Familiarity with businesses and individual tax clients in Northeast Iowa preferred.
  • Interest in potential future firm ownership preferred.
