The Heist, Thinkingbox’s Chicago motion design and post-production studio, is seeking a Senior Motion Designer to create 2D and 3D graphics, styleframes, and 3D scenes. The role includes mentoring designers and steering complex projects through production.

- Create and animate 2D and 3D motion graphics across varied visual styles and platforms
- Build storyboards, styleframes, and motion studies that bring creative concepts to life
- Work closely with Art Directors, Creative Directors, Producers, and designers throughout production
- Own complex assignments and independently resolve creative and technical challenges
- Protect the quality, consistency, and finish of every deliverable
- Give constructive feedback and mentor junior designers to strengthen team output
- Track emerging tools, workflows, and technologies that enhance creative and production processes
- Estimate project effort accurately, communicate status, and support on-time delivery
- Collaborate with Art Directors and Creative Directors to turn concepts into polished motion work
- Create styleframes, design key moments, construct 3D scenes, and refine animation
- Guide projects through production with confidence, precision, and strong attention to detail
Cerințe
- At least five years of professional experience in motion design, animation, or a related creative discipline
- A portfolio showing strong design judgment, animation fundamentals, and range across visual styles
- Advanced skills in After Effects, Cinema 4D, Redshift, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong command of typography, composition, color, pacing, and visual storytelling
- Experience taking work through professional production pipelines from initial concept to final delivery
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner effectively across disciplines
- A proactive, practical approach with the confidence to own assignments and contribute to the wider team
- Experience with Houdini, X-Particles, Marvelous Designer, or Substance Painter is a plus
- Experience with Unreal Engine, AI-assisted creative workflows, or emerging motion technologies is a plus
- Experience with live-action, editorial, or VFX production pipelines is a plus
