Senior Go Backend Engineer - Portugal Remote
Build and operate scalable Go backend services for a ride-hailing passenger platform. Lead architecture, observability, production delivery, and engineering mentorship.
Descriere
- Build and maintain reliable, scalable backend services that support business requirements
- Research technical approaches and lead backend architecture and feature implementation
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive, effective solutions
- Contribute to code reviews and architecture discussions
- Improve the technical quality of backend services across the team
- Produce clean, maintainable code aligned with company standards
- Manage backend service delivery, monitoring, and production operations throughout the lifecycle
- Implement and maintain observability systems covering metrics, logs, dashboards, and distributed tracing
- Mentor engineers and promote strong engineering practices and quality standards
- Contribute to the complete passenger experience for a ride-hailing application
- Complete the English assessment, internal technical interview, client interview, and client cultural-fit interview stages
Cerințe
- Intermediate English proficiency
- Location in the EU, Georgia, Armenia, Serbia, or Kazakhstan
- Availability to work in the CET time zone
- At least five years of commercial backend engineering experience in production environments
- Advanced Go experience covering concurrency, synchronization primitives, context propagation, goroutine lifecycle management, and graceful shutdown
- Experience developing and operating high-load distributed systems
- Recent product development experience with complex business logic and changing requirements
- Strong SQL and data modelling capabilities, including schema design, joins, aggregations, composite indexes, data type selection, query analysis, replication, partitioning, and sharding
- Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Strong knowledge of caching approaches, including Redis, cache-aside, cache warm-up, and background refresh
- Experience with synchronous and asynchronous service communication using gRPC and message brokers, including delivery guarantees, idempotency, and load-balancing trade-offs
- Deep knowledge of microservice architecture and efficient client-server communication, including relevant trade-offs and limitations
- Practical experience with observability, including metrics, logging, distributed tracing, alerting, and Go profiling with pprof
- Understanding of non-functional requirements, SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms
- Ability to produce maintainable, testable code with strong unit and integration test coverage
- Proficiency with Git and modern code review practices
- Ability to explain project architecture at the appropriate level of detail
- Ability to turn ambiguous problems into solutions independently by clarifying requirements and workload
- Nice to have: experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka, NATS, or RabbitMQ
- Nice to have: familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools
- Nice to have: experience profiling and optimising Go performance with pprof and trace
- Nice to have: familiarity with design handoff tools and cross-platform collaboration workflows
- Nice to have: experience with AI-assisted development tools
