Senior Cloud Site Reliability Engineer

Peraton seeks a senior cloud SRE to build Python and Terraform reliability solutions for AWS environments. The role supports national security missions and the Federal Reserve System through observability, automation, and resilient cloud platforms.

Aprašymas

  • Develop Python reliability solutions and SRE tools for AWS environments.
  • Create scripts, APIs, and utilities that automate work and strengthen platform reliability.
  • Set up Grafana and AWS CloudWatch monitoring, custom metrics, and dashboards.
  • Build and refine Terraform infrastructure for AWS, integrating Python workflows.
  • Create CI/CD pipelines and automated tests to support reliable, high quality releases.
  • Establish SRE practices, guidance, and service metrics such as SLIs and SLOs.
  • Use version control, code reviews, test driven development, and clear documentation.
  • Take part in incident response and scheduled on call coverage.
  • Support SRE tools and resolve production problems.
  • Work with teams to prevent repeat incidents through early detection and pattern analysis.
  • Keep up with AWS services, SRE practices, and cloud native development tools.
  • Partner with cross functional teams using Agile and Scaled Agile methods.
  • Write blameless incident reviews with practical follow up actions and documented failure scenarios.

Reikalavimai

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust clearance.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent and 12 years of experience.
  • Bring at least 5 years of advanced Python development experience building enterprise grade, highly available tools, APIs, and utilities for AWS.
  • Have at least 7 years of software development experience focused on reliability and platform engineering.
  • Have at least 3 years of hands on experience developing solutions in AWS environments.
  • Understand AWS services including EC2, VPC, S3, Lambda, IAM, CloudFormation, EventBridge, and Step Functions.
  • Have experience optimizing AWS resource costs.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience applying SRE principles, including observability, toil automation, SLIs/SLOs, and reliability engineering.
  • Demonstrate expert Terraform Infrastructure as Code skills, including module development and state management.
  • Have strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and DevOps practices.
  • Have experience with Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, and AWS Canary.
  • Have experience defining, implementing, and managing SLOs/SLIs and error budgets.
  • Be familiar with root cause analysis and postmortem documentation.
  • Have experience working in Agile and Scaled Agile environments.
  • Be familiar with ITSM processes, resilience testing, and chaos engineering practices.
